Many of us are transitioning from being locked down at home to going back to the workplace. While this can be great news for some, for our pets, this may cause stress, anxiety, and loneliness. Many pet parents are trying to figure out what to do to help ease the stress of these changes for their furry friend.
Here are a few suggestions I have to help during this transition period.
My first suggestion is definitely to have
pet toys! If you can find something interactive, that would probably be best, but every dog is different. Something like this
Teeth Cleaning Treat Ball may do good at entertaining your pup for a little while if they are treat motivated.
Next up, have a nice comfy bed for your pup if you do not already. You want your pup as comfortable as can be. If you are creative, you may even make something, such as a blanket or doll, from your old clothing so your dog can lay with your scent when you are not available.
If you have the funding, you can also get a pet cam where you can view your pet throughout the day. Some of these things even let you speak through it!
My final suggestion would be to bring some of the outdoors in. If you usually bring your pup out for walks throughout the day, you may want to consider getting some
dog lawn. Obviously, you are not there to bring them out, so give them some grass so they can still handle business. These things are absorbent and last longer than regular pee pads. Plus, dogs seem to like them more!
Of course, as soon as you get home be sure to give your pup a big hug and give them lots of love and attention!
