About the Author
Arnold von Cornova, author of
The Invisible Emperor was born on September 23, 1972.
Von Cornova grew up as second of three children in Nyiregyhaza, Hungary and graduated from Barnabas Sipkai Hospitality School as Restaurateur. He excelled in history and literature at young age. His mother Julianna was a store manager and his father Geza was a restaurant manager. Geza was from a four-generation restaurateur family from Budapest where they owned popular upscale restaurants before 1909 where his grandmother Anna Roth controlled the food empire.
The family lost all its wealth during communist nationalization after World War II. Von Cornova received a degree in public relations and started his publishing company. He published six books on his own by 2006 on subjects like food culture history, on aphorisms, on history. Two of his food history books are recommended literature in all Hungarian culinary schools.
He decided to come to America to fulfill his dream to publish a novel in America in English, which took him eight years.
The initial idea of The Invisible Emperor came from Julius Olsavszky, Arnold`s great grand father (1891-1959), he was a dining car chef in western Europe and lived a really interesting life.

Without giving away the book, I have to say this was rather interesting. It`s a decent length with a total of 521 pages. I found the book to be well written, easy to follow and easy to understand. With that said, the book also kept me interested and wanting to read on - something that I don`t find in many books to be honest. As someone who is not a big reader, finding a book that holds my attention is rare, which, to me, says a lot about this book. One passage that I really liked can be found on page 507 and says:
“A nation comes like a cloud, its chariot is the tempest, its horses are faster than the eagle, whose language you do not understand, you do not even comprehend what it says; the whole earth shall be destroyed because peril and great suffering are seen coming from the north.”
I don`t know why, but I just love the way it is worded and how it flows. Of course, there are a lot of great quotes throughout the book I found. All in all, this is definitely an interesting read and one I would recommend to others looking for a new book!
