With the holidays here you`re probably in the process of thinking what you will be fixing come meal time on Christmas or whatever holidays your family celebrates. Well, of course, I love the food aspect and getting to enjoy delicious homemade meals with my family, but I also love to try out the dessert as well! I mean for the holidays don`t you generally get to enjoy desserts you don`t typically enjoy throughout the year? Maybe that`s just my family. Either way, if you need some suggestions there are tons of ideas all over the web for holiday treats that your family will love, but you can also get creative on your own with candies, such as these,
When I say Wonka I honestly think of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory before anything else and not the only with Johnny Depp, but the `old school` version as I like to call it. Saying that seriously makes me feel old. Well, I`m not sure if Will Wonka exists and has a real live chocolate factory like in the movie, which would be the coolest thing ever, but I do know Wonka is responsible for making tons of delicious candies that have been around for quite some time and many of us grew up with. I found Wonka to be a trusted brand with quality candy and unique candy that no one else has. I was sent some of the holiday flavored nerds and candy canes from Wonka to try out for myself, but more importantly to bring ideas of how I could use the Wonka brand into my holiday treats! Well, I`m generally no expert in the kitchen. I can cook and bake basic things, but don`t ask me to go extravagant on you - it won`t happen. I received the Frosty Nerds which has watermelon, wild cherry and punch flavored nerds combined all in one box in nothing other than Christmas colors of course (red, green and white). I also received Pixy Stix Candy Canes which come filled with Pixy Stix Powder, hence the name. As to my expectations, both taste absolutely delicious in their own way and definitely did not disappoint with the flavor. Of course, how can you add products such as these into your holiday cooking?
Well for me making cupcakes is something I can easily handle so I figured something like the nerds would make a tasty, yet unique twist as sprinkles on top of the cupcake. The candy canes could also be crunched up in a food processor to be used at the same thing or you could always add them as additional pieces to a gingerbread house. I`ve personally only attempted to make a gingerbread house once and it looked like Hurricane Katrina struck it before the night was over. Basically, it all collapsed on me! It`s funny to look back on, but don`t ask me to make one because that`s probably what will happen again unless you have me gluing parts to wood then we may be able to get somewhere! Of course, if neither of these products is your cup of tea Wonka makes tons of other candies that would be just as appropriate to use in your holiday treats - or any treats throughout the year to be quite honest. Obviously, I`m a huge candy fan and Wonka fan. Combine those two categories together and the imagination runs wild and the ideas are endless. I definitely think if you want to make a unique treat that tastes great you should just incorporate a bit of candy into tradition cakes and treats and you`ll have something special! I know I`d enjoy it!
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
