In our house oral care is pretty important. I can`t leave the house without brushing my teeth and I can`t stand having a funky taste in my mouth nor do I wish to be the stinky breath family member either. Having fresh breath and clean teeth are simply important and should be a part of your everyday routine - at least that`s how I grew up and how I live. Of course, what`s a good teeth cleaning without good oral care products? I partnered up with Dr Sharp to try their new fresh mint with green tea toothpaste AND we`re giving one away to an awesome reader!

About Dr Sharp

Bruno Sharp is a Prosthodontist specialist with more than 20 years of advanced training and experience, has provided professional dental care in Coral Gables and Miami for the past 12 years. Born in Rio de Janeiro and following a family tradition of more than 100 years, Dr. Sharp is the 4th generation of dentists from the Sharp family from Brazil, who have studied in the United States. Dr. Sharp first earned his dental degree in Rio de Janeiro and completed an advanced program in Restorative Dentistry at the National University in Brazil. He chose to study in the United States, where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree at the Virginia School of Dentistry. He then decided to specialize in Prosthodontics, and graduated from the University of Florida’s College of Dentistry Master’s program. In 1997, Dr. Sharp established Prosthodontic Dentistry of South Florida (PDSF); a boutique dental care practice in Coral Gables. His state of the art facility treats patients in a prestigious and elegant environment that has become synonymous with the esteemed Sharp Signature Smile. As a natural progression of his specialty practice, in 2001, after conducting extensive research with the International Academy of Oral Medicine & Toxicology (IAOMT), Dr. Sharp learned that fluoride in the public water system coupled with its inclusion in the foods and beverages we ingest on a daily basis is commonly linked to a wide range of health problems. Upon such findings, he became determined to develop his own brand, a natural, non-toxic and healthy alternative to fluoride toothpaste that is now proudly offered at boutique pharmacies, natural health specialty stores, luxury hotels and spas, high-end cosmetic & beauty product catalogs, online retailers and dentist offices throughout the world. Dr. Sharp is an active member of the following professional dental associations: Florida Prosthodontic Association (FPA), American Dental Association (ADA), American College of Prosthodontics (ACP), American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics (AAMP), and International Academy of Oral Medicine & Toxicology (IAOMT). He is a Professor at Nova Dental School of Dentistry Department of Prosthodontics and is on the Board of Doctors at Jackson Memorial, Baptist and Mount Sinai Hospitals with The Head and Neck Cancer Group. To his credit, Dr Sharp specializes in Prosthodontics and Maxillofacial reconstruction for head and neck cancer patients.

My Thoughts

The Fresh Mint with Green Tea toothpaste offers the best of both by combining natural mint flavors and green tea extracts providing an appealing aroma and pleasant flavor.  Contains Xylitol, Green Tea and other natural extracts with soothing properties • Helps whiten teeth when brushing regularly • Helps promote healthy teeth and gums - Refreshes breath - No colors added • Natural flavor Ingredients: Glycerin, Hydrated Silica, Water (Aqua), Natural Flavor, Xylitol, Salva Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Bambusa Vulgaris Leaf/stem Extract, Commiphora Myrrha Resin Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Echinacea Purpurea Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Flower/leaf/stem Extract, Carrageenan, Cellulose Gum, Calcium Glycerophosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Lauramidopropyl Betaine, Sodium, Benzoic Acid, Sodium Benxoate, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid, Titanium Dioxide.

Personally I find the toothpaste to be okay. I don`t find anything too special or extravagant about it to be quite honest. I love that it uses natural extracts and such, but I hardly noticed any flavor to it. It`s sort of like mint gum when the flavor runs out - there`s still a hint there, but not much to it I guess is the best way to describe it. My mouth felt okay after using the toothpaste, but the lack of mint or flavor didn`t make me really feel refreshed like I would like to typically feel. I like to have a lot of flavor where my mouth has a fresh taste and feeling left after and for me this toothpaste just didn`t do the trick. Is it a bad toothpaste? Not at all. Did it taste horrible? Nope. It just isn`t what I`m used to or what fits my style for my oral care, that`s all. If you`re the type of person who doesn`t like much flavor then this would be an excellent alternative for you to try.
