The practice of eating “good luck†foods is commonly observed throughout the South and around the country as a fun superstition. Traditions vary from culture to culture, but there are striking similarities in what`s consumed throughout the United States. Specifically, however, the blackeyed peas are thought to bring prosperity, especially when served with collard greens and other greens variations –which are thought to bring wealth and money. This time of year puts a relevant slant on vegetables and the campaign, encouraging families to eat better, eat as a family and to hopefully gain some good luck along the way.
Allens, a company based in Arkansas, offers a range of “good luck†vegetables and recipes enlisting good luck vegetables for good luck planning. Consumers are invited to visit

I was sent 10 manufacturer coupons for free products to give the Allens brands a try. So as soon as my coupons arrived I headed to my local Winn Dixie and picked out a few product varieties to try out. I have to say I am in love with the Allens brand! I bought some kidney beans, navy beans, jalapeno pinto beans, mixed vegetables, season field peas and snaps and some black eye peas. Each of these taste absolutely delicious and honestly were not the first time I tried them either. Of course my favorite of these products is the seasoned field peas and snaps. Why? They`re simple to cook and delicious! My favorite way to make them is just heat the canned goods up in a pot over the stove, make some white rice and then pour it on top the rice. Yummy! You can always add your own additional spice to it or eat them as is; I love them done either way.
Needless to say I`m definitely a fan of the Allens Brands and highly support them. They`re affordable, easily available, and taste great! I often find these on sale for 10 for $10 as well at my local Winn Dixie so that`s even better for this frugal mom on a tight budget! Thanks Allens for such a wonderful opportunity for some yummy products!
