You all know how much I love Little Passports by now since I’ve worked with them quite a few times already. Sophia is homeschooled as you all know by now and you also know we incorporate many different methods of teaching with her to help her learn a bit more easily. I love fun learning ideas because you have fun and tend to remember and pick up on something a lot quicker when it’s fun. At least that’s how it’s been for me. Throw a lot of textbook work in and sure I’ll learn it, but at a slower rate and more likely to forget it when it’s not being used. Since I am always searching for engaging activities to spice up our homeschool days and build on my children’s interests, Little Passports was the perfect addition to our day!

We are a San Francisco-based company founded by two moms wanting to design an inspiring and fun way for kids to learn about other countries and the 50 states. We each have young children and hope they’ll take an active interest in the world at a young age. We plan on encouraging them to do so by providing them with opportunities and experiences that inspire the imagination. As we thought about how to do this, we remembered the anticipation and excitement we felt when we received mail as kids. We decided to incorporate this element of surprise and joy with the online games kids love today. We blended these two concepts and developed the idea of monthly travel packages, including letters, souvenirs, activities and online games.

What I think

It's been a while since I've gotten the Little Passports USA Edition and well, it felt just as exciting this time as it did the last. Sophia is still being homeschooled and is going into her 4th-grade year. Since we picked up where we left off, we didn't get the normal stuff that came in the first box. Instead, she got the next package which is the Rhode Island and Arizona workbook, a couple of postcards, some stickers, and some paper crafts that matched the state themes. It came with everything needed for an educational, but fun, lesson on each of the states.

As far as how did Sophia like them? Well, as soon as they arrived, with her name on them, she was super thrilled. What kid doesn't enjoy mail?! The book featured Rhode Island information and activities on one side and Arizona information and activities on the other. It was easy for Sophia to understand and catch on to the terms. Sophia thoroughly enjoyed this month and can't wait until Junes package comes in! Why? Because it'll be featuring our home state of Louisiana!

The recommended ages for the program are 7 and up – and I would definitely stick with those guidelines {and maybe even say 8 and up based on a few of the activities}.

Overall, the Little Passports USA Edition is a fun way to add a little excitement and geography learning to your school day. There are enough things included in the monthly packets that would allow a child to work on one or two things a day and spread out the learning fun over a time span. Add in the extra online activities that tie in with each state and your children will definitely be busy learning. I can’t wait to get our next month in!
