Normally I do a write up about something that goes along with my review, but I had such an outstanding experience with Chewy.com
that rather than my typical review I wanted to do something a little different.
Many of you may know that I was using a customized cat food from a company that I did a review on, Petbrosia. The cat food was great, the cats loved it, but the customer service was horrible. At first, it was nice because I never had to deal with the service and the cats liked the food. Well after some time I started noticing longer processing time and get this a limit to promotional codes according to their customer service. No, I don`t mean limiting one coupon per customer, but I was actually told "I see you used quite a few discounts in the past and we cannot allow you to use any more promotional codes" - HUH?! Who does that?! I mean I was subscribed to their newsletter to get deals to save money. Isn`t that the point? It is with any other company. So after that and needing pet food for the kitties and 3 days of my order still "processing" I sent a request to cancel my order and went and bought a few small bags of food for our cats to try. We found one that all 6 agreed on so I decided to check online for some deals for the food; after all, we`re on a tight budget like most of you all.
I checked several sites, but chewy.com had the best deal for the Merrick Purrfect Bistro Grain-Free Real Chicken Recipe Adult Dry Cat Food, 12-lb bag
. It was on sale for the same price as I found it at my local pet store AND if I did auto-ship I would receive an extra 20% off! Plus anything over $49 is ALWAYS free shipping. That other place with the bad service only gave free shipping with auto-ship. Well, this brand of food, even regularly priced, is cheaper. Over there I was paying around $60 for 20 lbs. For $60 I can get 24 lbs (2 bags) of our new brand - so 4 lbs more. Of course with it being on sale (no coupon code need) + the 20% off I saved a great deal more! I called customer service to assist me with my order. The first call the guy was super friendly in assisting me, but we got disconnected when he had placed me on hold; oops! So I called back and once again, SUPER friendly. 2 different people, both very friendly and seemed enthusiastic about their job. What`s awesome is I can call them 24/7 if I need any assistance with anything and that`s not something I had to read about. Before getting off the phone from placing the order, the customer service rep made sure to let me know. I felt like a welcomed new customer. I know I work with Chewy.com on a regular basis for reviews, but my experience with them acting as a brand new customer (well I am for making my first real order) made me love them that much more; particularly after being frustrated with the other place. I feel welcomed and valued; something that`s an important aspect of customer service and I cannot stress how great my experience and how they made me feel was.
Well aside from that, what we got in to review is the Tiki Cat King Kamehameha Luau Variety Pack Canned Cat Food, 2.8-oz, case of 12
. Now I have a tough crowd to please when it comes to food and treats. The 3 youngest will eat basically anything, but the others - not quite as much. That`s what I`m happy about the other cat food that`s cheaper and I can actually find in stores if I need more in an emergency situation. So anyway, Tiki Cat Premium Food formulas are made with the highest quality human-grade, all-natural ingredients and do not contain any compromised inferior nutrition sources. Tiki Cat has successfully identified and utilized the portions of each fish and meat source that are the most palatable to cats because they know that if a cat won't eat the food, the healthy nature of the food doesn't make a difference!
Well since we have 6 cats I opened a can for each. I love the texture of it. I mean it`s a bit gross if you`re looking from a human food perspective to eat, but if I were a cat I think I`d like it. Rather than the typical look of cat food, this had chunks of the various flavors in it. And when I tell you those cats went crazy - Wooh! I opened the cans and I swear they were staring and following me everywhere until I finally placed them down for them to eat. EVERY cat enjoyed the food. Whether or not they all enjoyed the same flavors I couldn`t tell you, but there was a kitty at every opened can enjoying it thoroughly! Since 24 hours had passed since opening them, I like to give whatever is left over to the outside kitties because generally wet food starts to get dried and my cats are so spoiled they lose interest in it anyway. Well, the 3 cans with literally small bites on the side left, I was in the process of scraping into the plate of dry cat food (that was voted as not good by the cats during our food testing to switch foods), they all come running to munch on it. Figures. Well, whatever they didn`t finish the dog snuck in and finished from it! We have the kitchen gated off with a baby gate for our 10-month son and it also keeps the dog from stealing the cat food - explains why his bowl stayed full and the cats emptied a lot quicker! So it`s both can AND dog approved!
Obviously I had an extremely positive experience with Chewy.com. I always do, but as I said, being a first real-time customer making order out of pocket - it just proved to me that they`re friendly to their customers, regardless if it`s for a promotion or not. I can tell these guys love their job and what they do. They were eager to help and listened to me ramble a bit; not trying to rush me off the phone. I love the customer service! Do you guys think you can provide a "pet questions" customer service line or maybe "come chit chat about your pets with us" line?! If you haven`t already, go to Chewy.com and check them out. They always have stuff on sale plus great service and DISCOUNTS on auto-ship!
