For my trial I tried out the Hearty Granola, Breakfast Muffin, Cinnamon Date Oatmeal, Country Lentils & Vegetable Soup, Savory Chickpea Stew with Roasted Eggplant, and Summer Riviera Penne. There were a few other items of food as well that aren`t currently showing on their web site. For starters, the food arrived quickly and well package. It was in a styrofoam ice box with ice packs/gel packs (whichever you want to call them). Nothing was frozen, but it was cold. I immediately checked each item out then put them away in the refrigerator until I was ready to try them out. I did take note to the fact that each item was clearly labeled as to what it was, the ingredients and the expiration date. I noticed most items expired in about a week of my receiving them as they are not meant to sit in the fridge, but be used for that week - hence the reason it`s a weekly meal delivery service.
I am a huge fan of the fact that none of the items took a long time to cook. Only a few minutes by microwave and each item was done. As with any brand I did not like everything, but I did like some. Not that the stuff I didn`t care for was horrible, it just wasn`t my `cup of tea`, but I was still able to eat it. Each item you could taste it was fresh. It wasn`t like a frozen meal that has thawed out and reheated. You could honestly taste the quality and freshness. Now for the amount you get and the price I have to say it`s not something I would necessarily be able to do because I think it`s a bit expensive, BUT you have to also remember you`re getting fresh ingredients, everything is prepared and it`s delivered. All you`re going to do is heat it up and enjoy. So keeping that in mind the cost is not bad.
Overall Fresh n` Lean was definitely a new experience for me and an enjoyable one. The food is great, the service is quick and it`s obvious this company cares about their customers and the food quality. They are not for those on a small budget, but if you can squeeze them in it`s definitely a more convenient and healthier food choice on the market. If anything they are well worth trying out!
