About L.A. Minerals
LA Minerals was founded in 2007 by Lorraine Aldean Pierce, due to her search for a mineral foundation that did not itch in the summer heat of the south. Having tried numerous brands, Lorraine decided to look into the ingredients that could be causing the itching. What she found was that a common ingredients, bismuth oxychloride, was causing the itching and burning. It also can cause acne, even cystic acne! So she decided to create a line of natural mineral makeup that did not contain bismuth oxychloride or any other ingredients that are known irritants.
LA Minerals was a successful business from THE FIRST YEAR! Evidently there are women around the world that have been searching for the same thing. A makeup that covers good and doesn`t itch or break you out!
- 4 trial sized foundations
- 1 trial sized mineral veil
- 1 trial size blush
- 1 concealer sample
- 1 baby kabuki
The first thing I applied was the concealer. I received the porcelain shade for the concealer. I used the brush to apply to the whole area of my face. Apply sparingly. You can use it either under or over your foundation, however, I prefer mine under my foundation. Then I applied my foundation. The mineral foundations I received in my kit were the Hollywood Fairest Natural, Hollywood Fairest Neutral, Hollywood Fairest Cool, and Hollywood Fairest Beige. I loved the smooth application process of these using the baby Kabuki brush. To apply, dip the kabuki or mineral powder brush in your minerals. Swirl it in the lid. Then tap and apply to your face in a circular motion, including your eyelids. Keep applying in light layers until the desired coverage is achieved. Next up, I applied my blush. I got the Lush Blush Bare Beauty. Once again, this was a nice smooth and easy application. Just apply to the cheeks and forehead, or wherever the sun normally gives you color. It`s that simple. Finally, I applied the veil. I received two different shades: a fair warm neutral shade and a high definition diamond veil. I actually applied both mixed togethr. To apply, you want to use a fluffy brush and apply it to your whole face. So you want to dip, swirl, tap and then apply it lightly in a circular motion to your face. The veil helps with hiding fine lines and pores. It also gives you a flawless, airbrushed look. It is best to apply this after your foundation and after you apply your blush. What I love about this makeup is that there is ZERO Talc, Bismuth, Nano Particles, or Parabens in our cosmetics. EVER! Also, L.A. Minerals will naturally meld with your skin after a while. To speed up the process, dampen your face with a wash cloth, water, or spritzer. This will instantly set your makeup, making it one with your skin. Now, based on the shade selector, I could probably also go with the fair, but in general, whenever I buy makeup I go with the fairest or porcelain shades so that`s what I got with this. My first time using the L.A. Minerals brand was when we went out Christmas Caroling with my husbands family church. It was a cool, but humid (when is not humid in the South?!) night and we were in and out of various establishments, a good bit of movement, etc. My makeup application lasted through the whole duration of the event without any second applications. In fact, the only application I needed to re-do was my lipgloss, which was not a part of the L.A. Minerals brand. So needless to say, I was pretty impressed. I found L.A. Minerals to be a high quality brand with quality products. As someone with sensitive skin, I did not experience any rashes or breakouts from using any of their products. When it was time to remove the makeup, it was easy to do with my makeup removing cloths. I was certainly pleased with the quality and would feel comfortable recommending their brand to anyone in the market for quality mineral makeup. Tip: You may be between shades or a mix of two undertones. That is why you get 4 foundations! If you are VERY pale, you may even be lighter than lightest. In that case, order a sample pod of an untinted foundation, and try mixing in. If you find you are a mix of 2 shades, you can order a custom mix right from their full size foundation page!
