I know it`s a bit delayed, but with a super busy schedule I hardly had the time to post. This review was done out of my own time and money, nothing was compensated for it.
On October 5, 2011 I was able to go to the Taylor Swift 2011 Speak Now concert which passed through my hometown in New Orleans. We were able to easily find a parking space on a side street (for free) which was about a 5-10 minute walk away from the arena. It wasn`t hard to find where to go with the crowds of people flowing through the street to get there either!
As we waited in line they had people handing out key chains for some event or another. Hey, who cares, it was an extra freebie! Also, there were set ups outside where you could take photographs in the unique background with the heart made of hands (like you see Taylor doing pretty often). We didn`t have time to visit those sections since we were trying to make our way in to find our seats and of course I had to stop by the gift booths and such!
Once we got inside, we made our way upstairs. All over were booths to buy your t-shirts and all other concert goodies. You could also purchase domino`s pizza or other food items if you were hungry. I stopped at the booth outside of where our seats were and purchased a T-Shirt, Drawstring Bag, and a Concert Tour book. The line itself was long, but didn`t take too long to get through. What did take long was processing my credit card. I should have gotten cash but you know you don`t really think those things through sometimes! It took about 10-15 minutes! Turns out my credit card was the last one that went through before their machines went down! I lucked out, but total bummer for anyone else with a card. Luckily there are ATMs throughout though if need be.
After getting my goodies we headed to our seats and awaited the show. We were Section 109, Row 19. The shows started at 7pm with two different opening acts. Both were people I hadn`t heard of before, but they were very good. One was a group called Need to Breathe and the other was a guy who I honestly can`t remember who it was. As great as they were, I was ready for Taylor!
Around 8:30/9pm Taylor Swift finally came on! She opened up her concert with the song "Sparks Fly" which was upbeat and amazing. Throughout the concert Taylor was flawless in both her songs and in her appearance! Upon occasions she would stop to take out her ear piece just to listen in awe her fans screaming and singing along to her songs.
After she sang "Speak Now" she went through the first floor to a smaller stage with a lite up tree where she sat and sang a couple songs including "Fearless". After a couple songs she went back through the crowd on the opposite side. As she made her way through the crowds both times she stopped and greeted fans along the way. Yes, I am jealous I wasn`t anywhere near by to enjoy that or get that lucky! What I wouldn`t do to actually meet her!
Once Taylor made her way back to the stage she sang a few more songs before her big finale. Her final song she sang was "Love Story", which she sang as she rode on a moving balcony which made its` way around the arena at the level of the upper levels. I finally got a closer up of her! Too bad I couldn`t have had some more close ups like that!
This concert was the best concert ever to me. I am a HUGE Taylor Swift fan. I relate to every one of her songs in one way or another at some point and time in my life. In fact, I listened to many of her songs through going through some hard times. So if you get the chance, definitely check out her concert!
