Clean can be difficult at times but not when you know nifty tips and tricks to have everything sparkling. Today we are going to be talking about cleaning silverware using things that are easily present in most kitchens.

When you can use things for more than one purpose, the joy of it is something that can’t be described, because then you won’t have to get out to buy more stuff. Laziness wins, well here efficiency does too, so it’s a win-win.Here are some of the regular kitchen ingredients that you can use to make your silver shine like it is new.

Vinegar and Baking Soda

Vinegar is a versatile product when it comes to cleaning. Many people have switched store-bought cleaning products to homemade ones, and vinegar is one of the main ingredients in most recipes.

Make a mixture of ½ a cup of white vinegar and 2 tbsp of baking soda. Soak your silverware in the solution for 2 to 3 hours. Rinse under cold water and dry thoroughly. This helps maintain the shine and luster of your silverware.

Lemon Juice and Salt

Lemon juice is used in many homemade cleaning mixtures. It has proved to be one of the effective tools to have. Make a mixture of 1 tablespoon of lemon, 1 tablespoon of salt, with 1 ½ cups of water. And let the silverware soak overnight in the solution. Your silverware will sparkle afterward.

Lemon-Lime Soda

Sodas are considered good for cleaning a variety of things. You can get back the shine of your silverware by soaking it in the lemon-lime soda for an hour. As tasty a drink as it, it works wonders for cleaning.

Cornstarch

Make a paste of cornstarch and water. Rub the paste on the silverware and let it dry. Use a rough towel to rub the dried paste off. Rinse it, and you have sparkly silverware with you.

Toothpaste

It seems like you can use toothpaste for a variety of things. It can be used to clean plenty of household products, not just your teeth. Squeeze some toothpaste onto a cloth or rag, and clean your silverware with it. They will sparkle as the toothpaste makes the teeth sparkle in a toothpaste commercial!

Hair Conditioner

If you have cleaned your silverware, and now want to prevent it from tarnish then rub them with hair conditioner. Hair conditioner prevents the clean silver from being tarnished.

Ketchup

This yummy paste can be used as well. Take a little on a paper towel or a soft cloth and gently run the silverware. For tougher spots, leave the ketchup on it for 15 minutes and wipe it down.

When you clean your silverware, use these tips as well. Rub with a soft cloth for the most part. For the places that are difficult to get, like intricate patterns and designs on candlesticks, jewelry, antiques, using a toothbrush to scrub.
