Having our hair cut is a necessity, but it can also get expensive. Here are some tips in lowering your hair cutting bills.

  • Look for coupons. Check online for your salon and see if they offer coupons. Also watch sites like Groupon who often offer local deals from salons. Sometimes you can buy vouchers for 1/2 off services!
  • Try a Beauty School. You will get a cut at a fraction of the cost and it will be done by a supervised stylist in training.
  • Just because your salon recommends coming every six weeks doesn’t mean that is a requirement. Going every 8 weeks will shave 2 visits off a year!!
  • Invest in a good pair of scissors and try it yourself. There are plenty of on line resources to guide you. There is even a step by step guide with pictures at Wikihow.
  • Look for salons that offer loyalty programs like every 10th cut free.
  • Go to a new salon. Many new salons will offer specials when they first open to gain customers.
  • Barber Shops Aren`t Just for Men. Are you a woman with a straight-forward cut? Then, head to a barber shop. You`ll pay less than you would at a salon that caters to women, and the service is usually just as good.
  • Have A Talented Friend Do It.
  • Keep A Simple Cut. If you have a simple cut the better the chance is that you might be able to do it yourself, or find a talented friend who can. If you have a simple cut chances are higher too that you can go longer between hair cuts. The longer you can go between haircuts the more money you save each year.
  • Become a Hair Model. Willing to take risks with your hair? Then, contact the top salons in your area, and let them know you`re interested in becoming a hair model. Note: You`re more likely to score a free cut if you have long hair that hasn`t been chemically treated.
  • Donate Hair and Get a Free Cut. Many salons host free haircut events to benefit Locks of Love and similar organizations. Locate one of these events in your area; donate your hair; and you`ll help others while helping yourself to a free cut.
