Since 2007, Sport Clips has helped U.S. service members connect with their loved ones through their Help a Hero program, benefiting the Veterans of Foreign Wars` Operation Uplink Free Call Days. Through company and client donations, almost 2 million dollars have been contributed to the program and more than 2 million calls have been made possible - and counting!
They continue to support the Free Call Days for deployed and hospitalized service members, but beginning this year, Sport Clips` Help A Hero program will raise funds to provide scholarships to veterans. The VFW`s "Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship" will help veterans get the education and training they need to begin the next chapter of their lives. Each scholarship will provide up to $5,000 of financial assistance to veterans wishing to further their education during or after military service.
Help them provide the gift of scholarships to our nation`s heroes and reach their fundraising goal of $575,000. Donate to Help A Hero at Sport Clips locations nationwide on October 14 through Veterans Day, November 11. And, make your haircut count on Veterans Day, when Sport Clips will donate $1 from every hair care service to the program.
Hundreds of thousands of veterans are entering the civilian workforce each year, and they face numerous obstacles as they transition back into civilian life, including finding a career. By providing scholarships for use at post-secondary schools, including trade schools, their goal is to make this transition a little easier.
In addition to supporting Help A Hero, many Sport Clips locations will offer free haircuts to active-duty U.S. service members and veterans on Veterans Day, Monday, November 11, 2013, with valid proof of service.
