For anyone who prays, our cat, Houdini, needs prayers and a miracle. He's been sick for the past few weeks and we're pretty sure he had FIP, which is a fatal virus for cats that's hard to detect and has no cure. He seemed to be making slow progress, but was not eating and was really having trouble walking last night. This morning he was still depressed like and rather than giving him his regular antibiotics and Iron meds he was on we switched to the antibiotic Doxycycline. I'm trying to re-hydrate him by giving him shot of water and juice from wet food, but he's really fighting it. He still hasn't eaten, but I'm hoping we get him perked up. His next vet visit is on Friday and depending on what's going on I may request for PI, which is some meds I found out through an FIP support group on Facebook - so if he's not too far along can help him, but it is quite expensive. So if miracles can happen now would be a great time. We've had our boy since he was 3 months and was there from pretty much the beginning of my pregnancy with Jace.
He is now only 11 months. FIP is commonly found amoung cats between a couple months and 2 or 3 years if they're going to have it, although it can happen at any stage in life. It's also very hard to detect and can only be basically "guessed" after a series of blood tests and watching the results and going through with medications, etc. So we're still hoping he it's something else and our guy pulls through, but we have a feeling it's for the worst. It's hard seeing Houdini like this. He was the one who could jump on a kitchen counter with ease and grace - you couldn't even hear him jumping. Now for him to get down or walk is such a challenge. He definitely left his footprints with out family and we're no where near letting him go. So this is definitely a rough time for my family and myself so if you pray or send positive vibes - whichever you do, we're welcome to it all.
