If you are trying to find some extra ways to keep your home clean while the kids are home this summer, I have a few suggestions for you.

 

First, try enforcing them to pick up after themselves. That is a basic, but we all know how well that works. If they take a toy out, they need to put it back when they are done playing with it. This costs nothing but a moment of your time to get your kids into this routine.

 

Next, I would give the kids a daily chore chart. You make this yourself, or if you really want to, you can purchase one – whichever fits your needs best.

 

The chores do not need to be anything complicated. Simply having someone in charge of sweeping the floors, emptying trash bins, picking up after pets, walking the dog, etc. Depending on the child’s age would depend on the chore or chores you give them. This takes some of the stress of the parent or caregiver while also teaching responsibility.

 

My final suggestion, however, is to get a robot vacuum, like what Neato Robotics offers. These things are great to help get more regular vacuum cleaning in without the manpower behind it.
