To become a certified seamstress in Ghana, young women must pay tuition to a sewing Madame to train them for two years as full-time, unpaid apprentices. The women emerge from their training programs in need of work and eager to start their trade, only to discover that their skills do not guarantee a living wage or consistent work. Enter Della.
